Liz Chant Bursary Award 2025
Nottingham Bach Choir is delighted to announce the winner of the 2025 Award.
A substantial audience was richly entertained by the four finalists in the 2025 Bursary competition at St John's, Carrington. The overall winner was Ben Watkins, who received £2,000. Noah Boneham-Hill received an award for showing particular promise thanks to the generosity of the Mansfield Building Society. Finalists Imogen Clemmow and Ben Staniforth also received donations in recognition of their achievements, and to support their future endeavours. We are very grateful to our judging panel: Helen Brackenbury, Paul Hale and Ed Turner; and to Elizabeth Jones, the pianist who accompanied three of the singers with empathy and skill. Pictured are left to right: Noah, Ben W, Imogen and Ben S.
We look forward to the next competition in 2027.
The bursary of £2,000 is granted to a singer aged 16-26 with close links to Nottingham or Nottinghamshire. The recipient will show outstanding potential in communication and performance and will be selected following an audition before an audience. It is available as a result of a generous legacy by a long-standing choir member. Previous winners Emily Hodkinson and Abigail Barker have performed with the choir.
The Nottingham Bach Choir is a registered charity no. 1194215.
