Bach: Christmas Oratorio, Chilcott & carols

Saturday 05, December 2026, 3:00 pm

St Mary's Church, Lace Market, Nottingham

This term's concert brings together two contrasting tellings of the Christmas story: selections from Bach's magnificent Christmas Oratorio and Bob Chilcott's delightful On Christmas Night - a sequence of eight carols that weaves familiar melodies into a colourful contemporary setting. The programme also includes seasonal readings and traditional carols for everyone to sing.  The result promises to be a particularly enjoyable afternoon of Christmas music, moving from the splendour of Bach to the warmth and intimacy of Chilcott, and ending with some well-loved carols. With choir and audience accompanied by a full orchestra, there should be plenty of opportunity to raise the roof!
