Saint Saens Requiem: Poulenc Organ Concerto: Pieces by Cecilia McDowall and Fauré
Join Nottingham Bach Choir in Southwell Minster on Saturday 22 November 2025 for a poignant concert marking 80 years since the end of the Second World War.
Poetry will be read by the Cathedral's Canon Missioner Amanda Lees, interwoven with music of remembrance. Cecilia McDowall's radiant Ave maris stella and Fauré's much-loved Cantique de Jean Racine frame Poulenc's dramatic Organ Concerto which will be performed by former Minster organ scholar Edward Turner. At the heart of the evening is Camille Saint-Saëns' rarely heard yet profoundly moving Requiem - a work of drama, tenderness and consolation, and an unforgettable centrepiece to this reflection in words and music.
